May is CRIME READING MONTH, so as is fitting, Crime Cymru is up for a very busy month.

Alis Hawkins – well, where to start? She’s on tour for the whole month, visiting as many indie bookshops in Wales as possible, talking about her Teifi Valley Coroner series, starting in Machynlleth on the 1st, Bala on the 2nd, Caernarfon on the 3rd, Llanidloes on the 4th, Carmarthen on the 8th, Chepstow on the 17th, Crickhowell on the 20th, Cardigan on the 25th, Mumbles on the 27th, Haverfordwest on the 28th, Narberth on the 29th and St David’s on the 30th. As if that’s not enough, she’ll be launching her new book, In Two Minds, at Coleford on June 1st! For the full details of places and times, see our Events Calendar.

Another event that spans the month, though less exhausting for the participants, is the Crime Month series of signings (and chattings) at WHSmiths in Cardiff, every Saturday in May. On the 4th it’s B E Jones and Nigel Williams with co-author Arthur Cole. On the 11th it’s Phil Rowlands and John Nicholl. On the 18th, it’s Thorne Moore and Judith Barrow. On the 25th, it’s Leslie Scase and G B Williams.

On the 14th, you can join Jan Newton at Llandrindod Wells Library for Coffee and Crime (drinking one and talking about the other – no actual criminal activity).

Then there are the big festivals, starting with NEWCASTLE NOIR where a Crime Cymru panel of Thorne Moore, Phil Rowlands and Matt Johnson will be whipped into shape by G B Williams, on May 4th, 3:30 at Newcastle Library, as they discuss just how sinister the welcome is that Wales keeps in the hillside.

And of course there’s CRIME FEST in Bristol, which runs from the 9th to the 12th. Our G B Williams will be will be on a panel discussing Whose Story: Unique Voices and Unreliable Narrators and Cathy Ace will be moderating a panel On These Mean Streets: The modern PI before they both appear with Rosie Claverton and Alis Hawkins for the star turn of the show as they discuss Crime Cymru: It’s Not All Rugby, Sheep And Singing. Of course it isn’t. It’s much more fun than that: it’s murder.

If you are a little further afield, say in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, Cathy Ace and Elizabeth Duncan will be at MALICE DOMESTIC, which runs from the 3rd to the 5th May.

Check out the full details on all these events on our EVENTS CALENDAR.
