
Sion Hughes was born in Wrexham and grew up in Anglesey. He has spent most of his professional life in the legal side of the Welsh media industry which included a period producing and writing documentaries. After receiving a BAFTA nomination for Wyneb Glyndwr in 2014 he was inspired to write novels.
After his debut novel, Llythyrau yn y Llwch, met with critical acclaim he started the DI John series of crime novels; the fourth of which is due out in 2025.
He lives in Cardiff with his wife Mari, and two friendly cavapoos Meg and Jini.
He enjoys cooking, wine-making and sport. Despite being diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer in 2019 he continues to lead a full and happy life.
